The wedding reception provides a time and place for sometimes hundreds of family and friends to celebrate your special day. So, no wonder the location of the wedding reception is of prime importance to the bride and groom. Outdoors, indoors, small, large, casual, elegant—receptions vary as much as the couples themselves. From small, private receptions in one of the lovely church halls or local restaurants to large outdoor receptions in a botanical garden or on the grounds of one of our historic mansions to the county fairgrounds or Georgia International Convention Center, options abound along 85 South with couples being limited only by their imagination. College Park
Diamond Hall and Conference Center, 5495 Old National Hwy., College Park; Diamond Hall provides it all with several wedding and reception packages to choose from including an extensive menu, disc jockey, dance floor, centerpieces and more. The Georgia International Convention Center has recently moved to the intersection of Camp Creek Pkwy. and Roosevelt Hwy. This sleekly designed multi-purpose facility is owned and operated by the city of College Park. It now boasts Georgia’s largest ballroom (40,000 square feet). Union City
Green Manor, 6400 Westbrook St., Union City; Once upon a time at the turn of the century, a handsome doctor presented the keys of a stately mansion to his new bride. That mansion, the Green Manor, still stands. Its historic architecture has been carefully restored including 6 staircases, crystal chandeliers, wide verandas, beveled glass doors and stained glass windows, all on five beautifully landscaped acres (a whole city block), making it an ideal choice for garden and indoor weddings and receptions. The Green Manor can accommodate up to 300 guests (not all in the same room) with a minimum of 50 guests. The Green Manor handles the catering with its full service restaurant and can feed 200 guests with multiple buffet lines in 30 minutes. Delicious appetizers are included in every package to keep the guests entertained while the wedding party has pictures taken. They also have a full bar and dance floor. Brides may bring their own cake, DJ, preacher and flowers. The Green Manor also has access to a horse and carriage for traditional Southern weddings. Dunaway Gardens, 3218 Roscoe Rd., Hwy. 70, Roscoe; This 25-acre botanical garden makes a perfect location for an outdoor wedding and reception. The happy couple may tour the gardens to find their perfect spot. Many choose the 300-year-old White Oak dubbed the Wedding Tree. The amphitheater and hanging gardens are also popular locales. The reception is held in a permanent tent with a historical brick floor. Brides can get prepared for their big day in the pre-Civil War bridal cottage which features beautiful hardwood floors. Coweta County Fairgrounds, 275 Pine Rd., Newnan; Located on 65 scenic acres, the fairgrounds offer a very nice facility for a wedding and reception (either indoors or outdoors). The spacious 6,000 square foot conference center divides into two smaller rooms if needed and seats up to 480. A catering kitchen is available, but the wedding party must bring in the rest. Major Long Home, 21 LaGrange St., Newnan; The perfect venue for a wedding and reception. The design of the home assures that your special guests can move from one part of the home to another with ease. The house comfortably accommodates 200-250 people.
